The project aims at developing teachers' capability in lesson design and about 960 P.1- 6 students' interest in reading at the applicant school, enhancing their language abilities by integrating the Chinese Language, English Language and General Studies curricula through promoting “Reading across the Curriculum"( RaC). Through reading different types of books, students would acquire a broader and deeper knowledge base; be provided the opportunities to develop their potential, thinking and generic skills; as well as facilitation of their moral development, nurturing of humanistic caring and proper attitudes for social participation. Tangible deliverables include an interdisciplinary curriculum plan based on extensive reading, thematic reading area in the school library, book shelves in the classroom and a learning & teaching resource bank.
The project aims at facilitating about 86 young children of the applicant school to understand, appreciate and respect life, as well as enhancing parent-child communication through developing a reading curriculum with the new story-telling method named Rudolf Steiner in the school. The learning and teaching resource materials developed are the deliverables of the project.
The project aims at guiding pre-schools in developing good practices for maintaining health and safety in their daily operations through establishing a hygiene, health and safety system in pre-schools and organizing training to about 280 pre-school administrators, teachers and principals. The tangible deliverables will be 2 newsletters and a project website.
The project aims at promoting reading through the provision of an IT platform, tablet PCs, sharing of reading materials and implementing cross-curricular learning activities.
The proposed project aims at enhancing non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students' Chinese language proficiency, through the establishment of an e-learning platform to support their after-school enrichment learning and extended learning.
