The project aims at engaging junior secondary students to co-construct knowledge in Mathematics classroom and enhancing teachers' capacity in designing effective dialogic pedagogy through the establishment of a collaborative platform to facilitate teachers to develop dialogic lessons and the implementation of dialogic classroom which emphasises participative and self-directed learning. A checklist of essential elements of dialogic lessons, learning and teaching materials of the junior form dialogic curriculum and a procedure handbook will be the deliverables of the project.
The project aims at cultivating the sense of belonging and positive values towards the society of 140-175 school students from 7 secondary schools through a service learning programme which engage secondary schools students, university students and older adults. A programme manual, an intergenerational learning community chronicle will be published and a project website will be developed.
The project plans to (1) identify teachers under pressure and teach them with coping strategies; (2) empower middle managers of 22 participating schools, including social workers and counselling teachers, to formulate their respective School-based Teacher Support Policy; and (3) form learning circles to cultivate a caring culture to facilitate mutual support among teachers.
