In October 1997, the Chief Executive announced in his Policy Address the establishment of the Quality Education Fund (QEF). Formally established on 2 January 1998 with an allocation of $5 billion, the QEF provides a channel for funding worthwhile projects from the education sector.
The QEF Cyber Resource Centre (QCRC) was established and launched in December 1999. It acts as an on-line repository of the QEF resources, provides updated information of the funded projects and dissemination activities, promotes project implementation experience and outcomes as well as showcases QEF products.
