Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks - Schools (QTN-S)

This programme is the continuation of the Professional Development Schools Scheme financed by the Education Development Fund. Schools with exemplary practices in learning and teaching and a good sharing culture will form a network with participating schools, focusing mainly on specific pedagogical themes to promote inter-school collaboration and professional exchange through various exchange activities.

To empower teachers to implement multi-dimensional pedagogic and assessment strategies in core subjects (Chinese Language, Mathematics and General Studies), and record student performance in Learning Progression Framework so as to promote the effectiveness of learning and teaching; To let teachers master the effective strategies and skills in teaching students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and enhance their learning effectiveness through refining the curriculum and assessment accommodation such as developing multiple assessment strategies; To assist teachers with the implementation of STEAM education in different subjects (General Studies, Mathematics, Computer and Design and Technology). The learning effectiveness of SEN students in STEAM education can be enhanced through the development of school-based STEAM learning and teaching activities and a resource depository; To let teachers master the skills of teaching Positive Education so as to establish a caring and harmonic school culture and cultivate the good character of students.

To provide professional training and support to teachers and laboratory technicians of participating schools on bio-technology and STEAM education; To support teachers in developing bio-technology and STEAM education learning activities for school junior secondary science curriculum so as to enhance students’ knowledge and experimental skills in bio-technology as well as their creativity and problem solving skills; To establish an interactive learning community to promote interschool interaction and professional exchange on professional technological innovation; To promote bio-technology and STEAM education in the participating schools, the secondary school sector and in Hong Kong.

In 2023/24 school year, QEF sponsored 13 secondary schools and primary schools to implement QTN-S, which covered different subjects and themes. The QTN-S has provided support to the participating primary and secondary schools and enhanced professional exchanges as well as professional capacity building to facilitate the continuous development of schools. 7 QTN-S dissemination seminars would be organized in the form of online live webinars / on-site seminars from 19 June to 4 July 2024.
