Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks - Schools (QTN-S)

This programme is the continuation of the Professional Development Schools Scheme financed by the Education Development Fund. Schools with exemplary practices in learning and teaching and a good sharing culture will form a network with participating schools, focusing mainly on specific pedagogical themes to promote inter-school collaboration and professional exchange through various exchange activities.

To enhance teachers’ teaching skills of STEM education, e.g. prediction, inquiry, observation, conclusion and fair test; To facilitate teachers to design student learning portfolios so as to enhance the learning effectiveness of students in STEM education and to enhance students’ reflection and self-management skills using the learning portfolio as an assessment tool; To establish an interactive professional learning community that allows teachers’ mutual sharing of their experience of lesson design and teaching; and To facilitate the consolidation and adaptation of the school-based General Studies curriculum in the Participating Schools.

To assist schools in developing a school-based storybook teaching curriculum that cater for students’ different learning characteristics; To enhance students’ interest in reading and learning Chinese, enrich students’ imagination and nurture their thinking skills; To enhance the professional development of teachers through co-planning, selecting suitable storybooks as learning and teaching materials and designing a school-based curriculum and open lessons; and To facilitate the connection between schools through cross-school networks.
