Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks (QTNs)

The QEF Thematic Network was initiated in 2006 to disseminate good practices derived from QEF projects and promote professional sharing through networking different schools and educational bodies.   • Science in ACTION: Facilitating STEAM Education in Primary/Secondary Schools cum STEAM Education Resources Hub (2025/26)

This project aims at enhancing students' interests in learning Science and promoting creative STEAM education in primary and secondary schools by using science kits, microcomputer boards, and sensors in the “Science in Action” activities. In addition, this project aims at facilitating the transition in STEAM education across different key stages by establishing different platforms. This project will open the STEAM Education Resource Hub and provide equipment for use by primary and secondary school teachers, students and their parents in the community.

This project aims at assisting the participating schools in optimising their school-based curricula for subjects such as Science and Technology, thereby enhancing students’ understanding of STEAM education; forming a teaching team with knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Social Intelligence (SI) to jointly promote their application in STEAM education, with a view to facilitating the continuous development of lesson study. The project will also share the teaching experience in promoting AI and applying SI in STEAM education, including designing learning and teaching activities and effective implementation strategies.

This project aims at enhancing junior secondary school students’ social competence, as well as their knowledge and skills in sex and relationship education and emotion regulation, while cultivating their values of “respect for others” and “empathy” with a view to facilitating their social adaptation during adolescence. Meanwhile, the project intends to assist the participating schools in developing school-based curriculum on social competence and creating related resources and implementation models, as well as providing school personnel with professional training.

This project aims at enhancing students' interests in STEAM education-related subjects through developing their foundational skills in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), such as image recognition and voice recognition, letting them experience and comprehend the fundamental concepts and practical applications of AI. In addition, students are guided to think and discuss AI-related ethical and social issues, thereby promoting their creativity and problem-solving abilities.

This project aims at arousing students’ interests in STEAM education through equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills of designing robot-related learning activities. Regular inter-school sharing and seminars are also organised to enhance the professional development of teachers. The established learning community under the project will continue to be run after the completion of the project so as to sustain professional exchange and development among teachers. The STEAM Education Resource Hub and its equipment will remain accessible to teachers and students from both participating and non-participating schools.
