Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks (QTNs)

The QEF Thematic Network was initiated in 2006 to disseminate good practices derived from QEF projects and promote professional sharing through networking different schools and educational bodies.   • QEF Thematic Network Dissemination Seminar (2022/23)

Quality Education Fund (QEF) organises diversified dissemination activities annually. Starting from 2006, QEF has been implementing QEF Thematic Networks (QTNs), aiming to connect different schools and education bodies, build up professional network, disseminate successful experiences and strengthen professional development as well as exchanges. In 2022/23 school year, QEF sponsored 13 tertiary institutions, secondary schools and primary schools to implement QTNs, which covered different subjects and themes. The QTNs has provided support to the participating kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and enhanced professional exchanges as well as professional capacity building to facilitate continuous development of schools. 13 QTNs dissemination seminar would be organized in the form of live sessions and / or online live webinars from 9 June to 7 July 2023 in the venues and / or online platform arranged by QTN Co-ordinators.

This QTN aims at assisting participating schools in designing and implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Social Intelligence (SI) in STEAM education and promoting students’ learning and application in these aspects through refining school-based Technology Education and Science Education curriculum according to school context. This QTN will also set up professional learning community and collaboration platform for participating schools to develop sustainable STEAM education as well as AI and SI education.

This QTN aims at enhancing S.1 – S.3 students’ social competence and understanding of sex and relationship education as well as promoting the values of “respect for others” and “empathy”. The QTN will also assist students to establish healthy social networks so as to facilitate their adjustment to adolescence period and provide school personnel with relevant professional training.

This QTN aims at promoting STEAM education to primary and secondary schools with the use of science packages, micro-controllers and sensors. This QTN enhances teachers’ and students’ interest in learning science through engaging their participation in various activities and develop a professional learning community across secondary and primary schools so as to incorporate STEAM education in different learning stages.

This QTN aims at familiarising teachers with the use of tools and equipment through a series of regular workshops so as to facilitate their planning and setting up of school-based STEMaker space. Through carrying out a series of lesson observations, STEMaker curriculum will be developed or deepened. The project will be delivered in four stages, i.e. Learning, Planning, Consolidation and Development stages. New participating schools will undergo a one-year programme so as to finish all the four stages.
