Quality Education Fund Thematic Network – Designated Themes (QTN-DT) Projects (since the 2025/26 school year)

These projects aim to provide schools with diversified school-based support services by leveraging the expertise and extensive experience of the professional support teams of tertiary institutes and non-governmental organisations, in order to meet the varied development needs of individual schools. This project aims at supporting kindergarten curriculum leaders in planning school-based curricula with play-based strategies and enhancing teachers’ professional capabilities in implementing related curricula. The support foci include consolidating children’s learning through play via effective group discussions, improving teachers’ assessment literacy, and fostering a reflective culture within kindergartens. This will continuously optimise the school-based curriculum and promote the whole-person development of children.

This project aims at supporting primary and secondary schools in planning and implementing STEAM-related curricula through a whole-school approach. The support foci include strengthening curriculum leadership, promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration, and enhancing teachers’ professional capabilities in advancing STEAM education using self-directed learning strategies. The project also supports teachers in improving students’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills from different disciplines, fostering their creativity and cultivating proper values and attitudes. Additionally, it provides professional advice and technical solutions for various STEAM education themes, such as electronics and robotics.

This project aims at enhancing the ability of primary and secondary school teachers to plan STEAM learning and teaching activities and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) learning elements into related activities to promote students’ self-directed learning. The support foci include cultivating teachers’ AI literacy and providing suggestions for relevant learning conditions and environments. The project also supports teachers in fostering students’ digital literacy, planning school-based curricula, and coordinating related subjects to drive educational innovation in schools.

This project aims at supporting the learning and teaching of Chinese in kindergartens and primary schools, facilitating smooth transitions between different learning stages. This project aims at enhancing the professional competence of kindergarten teachers in teaching Chinese to both Chinese-speaking and non-Chinese speaking children, while providing relevant parental education resources to assist parents in supporting their children in learning Chinese. The support content also includes elements such as promoting Chinese culture, national security education and information technology, which enrich children’s learning experience and fostering their whole-person development.
