Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks (QTNs)

This QTN aims at familiarising teachers with the use of tools and equipment through a series of regular workshops so as to facilitate their planning and setting up of school-based STEMaker space. Through carrying out a series of lesson observations, STEMaker curriculum will be developed or deepened. The project will be delivered in four stages, i.e. Learning, Planning, Consolidation and Development stages. New participating schools will undergo a one-year programme so as to finish all the four stages.

This QTN aims at helping participating schools develop school-based STEAM-related curriculum and activities, carrying out the learning and teaching activities using different devices and hardware. The project also introduces the educational concept of “Maker” in school settings.

This QTN aims at promoting computational thinking and STEAM education through Mathematics learning activities and cross-curricular activities in KS1. Teachers of the participating schools will apply the concept of computational thinking and improve their capability of using information technology in teaching. This QTN will establish a teacher learning community and foster inter-school professional exchange. This QTN will also provide workshops for teachers, parents and students of participating schools and other schools and allow them to use the equipment and tools provided by the coordinating school under the STEAM Education Resource Hub.

This QTN aims at establishing an interschool professional exchange network and enhancing teachers’ professional capacity for planning and implementing school-based STEAM-related curriculum. Through hands-on and minds-on exploratory activities in General Studies, teachers can develop students’ capabilities to integrate and apply knowledge and skills as well as encourage students to make use of the design cycle, show their creativity and cultivate positive values and attitudes. The QTN also provides opportunities for students to apply coding and enhance their innovative and computational thinking skills.

This QTN aims at strengthening the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in STEAM education to solve problem of “public hygiene and health”. The QTN fosters the development of students’ growth mindset and creative thinking through design tasks. The QTN also promotes STEAM education to different stakeholders by setting up and opening a STEAM Education Resource Hub, and providing teacher training and student workshops.
