Quality Education Fund Thematic Networks - Schools (QTN-S)

This programme is the continuation of the Professional Development Schools Scheme financed by the Education Development Fund. Schools with exemplary practices in learning and teaching and a good sharing culture will form a network with participating schools, focusing mainly on specific pedagogical themes to promote inter-school collaboration and professional exchange through various exchange activities.

To help teachers master in determining the teaching objectives, strategies and self-directed learning guidelines of STEAM education, and design related learning portfolios, assessment methods and rubrics; Yo establish an interactive teacher professional learning community to let teachers share their teaching design and experience; To let teachers help students solve problems in daily life with STEAM knowledge; To nurture students’ perseverance, courage to innovate and an attitude of continuous improvement, and enhance their interest and curiosity in the world of science and technology, and concern about the impact of science and technology on society.

To provide professional training and support to teachers and laboratory technicians of participating schools on bio-technology and STEAM education; To support teachers in developing bio-technology and STEAM education learning activities for school junior secondary science curriculum so as to enhance students’ knowledge and experimental skills in bio-technology as well as their creativity and problem solving skills; To establish an interactive learning community to promote interschool interaction and professional exchange on professional technological innovation; To promote bio-technology and STEAM education in the participating schools, the secondary school sector and in Hong Kong.

The project aims to enhance teachers’ capacity in designing and implementing cross-curricular activities on STEAM education so as to strengthen the coherence and collaboration among teachers of the Science, Technology, Arts and Mathematics Education KLAs to promote the development of STEAM education; In consolidating students' subject knowledge and unleashing their potential in innovation through STEAM learning activities; In developing the ability of students to integrate and apply their knowledge and skills across different subject disciplines for problem solving, as well as cultivating their interests in subjects related to STEAM education.
