In October 1997, the Chief Executive announced in his Policy Address the establishment of the Quality Education Fund (QEF) which was formally set up on 2 January 1998 with an allocation of $5 billion to finance worthwhile projects from the school education sector to enhance the learning and teaching effectiveness.
The QEF Cyber Resource Centre (QCRC) was established and launched in December 1999 with the following aims:
1. To enhance the public awareness of the QEF by acting as an online repository of the QEF resource to help visitors obtain project information through different ways of browsing and searching:
1.1 the updated information of QEF projects and their deliverables;
1.2 recent and past QEF dissemination activities.
2 To facilitate sharing of project implementation experiences and outcomes with a view to enhancing teachers' professional development.
3 To provide online shopping of QEF products.
1 Resource Bank
1.1 project proposals, final reports and project deliverables.
1.2 dissemination resources from:
1.2.1 thematic dissemination activities;
1.2.2 forum and parallel sharing seminars/workshops of the Teachers’ Professional Experience Sharing Month (TPESM);
1.2.3 sharing activities of the QEF District-based Roving Exhibitions.
1.3 deliverables of Consolidation and Redevelopment Work (C & R Work).
1.4 activities and deliverables of QEF Thematic Networks (QTNs).
2 Resource Search
2.1 Project information can be searched by specifying year, applicant sector, project theme, project goal/objective, beneficiary sector, project feature, project deliverable, grant amount and project nature.
2.2 Deliverables can be searched by selecting multiple product features including deliverable themes, classification/ categories/ types of deliverables and target sectors.
To facilitate the purchase of QEF products, an online shopping area is set up to allow customers to enjoy online shopping of QEF products.
